Jasper Leonard, born in 1985, is an artist based in Antwerp Belgium. He grew up in Sint-katelijne Waver and has been fascinated by photography from his youth, taking pictures at the age of 9 when he was given his first camera.
He received a masters in Visual arts at Sint Lucas in 2010 and has since been active in different artistic projects, this is where he discovered his enthusiasm for photography and soon decided to bring it to an other level.
He continues to experiment with the creation of photo lenses and wanted to overcome the relationship between realities and its photographic expression with mirrors, ladles and old lenses as Jasper makes new lenses and parts for his camera. His interest in lenses and photography goes back to childhood: he has always found fascinating the relationship between lenses and the result of digital photography, and loves to be able to construct the tools that provide his unique photographs.
